Membership terms
Who we are
Hoppr is operated by Hoppr Club LTD. Contact us at hopprteam@gmail.com for membership, refund, privacy or business enquiries.
Your membership
Hoppr provides access to the participating Lancaster businesses and offers listed on our website. A paid membership costs £5 in total for 12 months from successful payment and activation. It is a one-off payment, with no automatic renewal. Your card shows its expiry date. Creating an account alone does not activate a paid membership.
The current website uses Stripe sandbox payments. These do not take real money and sandbox cards cannot be redeemed at businesses. Listings labelled “Sample venue” are fictional; listings labelled “Coming soon” do not yet have a claimable Hoppr offer.
Eligibility and card use
You must be a current student at Lancaster University or the University of Cumbria, use your own eligible university email and provide accurate details. Email verification and your student declaration do not independently verify enrolment. We or a participating business may ask to see current student ID.
Your card is personal and non-transferable. Use your own name and a clear, recent photo of your full face. Show the active card in store before paying. Hoppr offers are for in-store purchases only, not online orders. Staff may refuse an offer if the photo does not reasonably match you, the card is expired or inactive, or the published offer conditions are not met. Do not share an account, impersonate anyone or alter a card. Contact us if you think access or a discount was wrongly refused.
Offers and participating businesses
Read the conditions on each listing, including minimum spend, eligible items and times, before purchasing. A coming-soon listing is not a promise of a particular discount. The business supplies the food, goods or services; your purchase from it is a separate contract with that business. Contact it about that purchase and contact us about your membership or an inaccurate listing. We do not guarantee a particular saving.
Businesses and offers may change during your membership. We will update listings when notified and communicate material changes that affect the service you bought. This does not allow us to remove your statutory rights or materially reduce the promised service without an appropriate remedy. If a change or persistent refusal means we are not supplying the membership as agreed, contact us for a remedy, which may include a price reduction or refund where appropriate.
Cancellation and refunds
You may cancel within 14 days starting the day after your membership contract is made, for a full refund. Activating the card or using an offer during those 14 days does not remove this full-refund policy. See the refund policy and cancellation instructions. After that period we do not normally refund a change of mind, including simply not using the membership. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
Account security and suspension
Keep your password private and tell us promptly about unauthorised use. We may reasonably suspend access to investigate suspected fraud, misuse or security issues. We will explain the reason where lawful and give you a way to challenge it. Suspension does not automatically remove refund rights or allow us to keep payment unfairly.
Our responsibilities and complaints
We will provide our service with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms excludes statutory consumer rights, liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. We do not exclude responsibility for losses for which the law makes us responsible.
Send complaints to hopprteam@gmail.com with the account email and relevant details. We aim to acknowledge them within three working days and provide a substantive response within 14 days; complex cases may take longer and we will explain why. You can still use any applicable dispute-resolution or court rights.
English law applies, subject to mandatory protections available where you live. These terms do not prevent UK consumers bringing proceedings in the courts of the UK country where they live. Material changes to these terms will be notified; they do not retrospectively remove existing rights.
14-day cancellation & refund policy
Cancel within 14 days for a full refund of your £5 membership fee, even if you activated your card or used an offer. The 14 days start the day after the membership contract is made. You do not have to give a reason.
How to cancel
Email hopprteam@gmail.com with a clear request to cancel. Include the email used for your Hoppr account and, if available, your payment date or receipt reference so we can find the purchase. Do not send your password or full bank-card details. Any clear statement of cancellation is sufficient; the form below is optional.
We will refund without undue delay and no later than 14 days after receiving your cancellation, using the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise. There is no cancellation, administration or payment-processing deduction. Your membership access ends on cancellation; your account can remain unless you also request deletion.
After 14 days
Change-of-mind refunds are not normally available after the cancellation period. This does not affect your legal rights if the service is not supplied as agreed, is misdescribed or otherwise fails applicable consumer-law requirements. Tell us about the problem so we can provide an appropriate remedy. Any longer cancellation period required by law still applies, including where required cancellation information was not supplied.
Optional cancellation form
You can copy this into an email or download the form. You do not need to use it.
To: Hoppr Club LTD, hopprteam@gmail.com I/We hereby give notice that I/we cancel my/our contract for the supply of the Hoppr membership service. Ordered on: Name of consumer(s): Address of consumer(s): Hoppr account email (optional, helps locate purchase): Date: Signature of consumer(s) (only if sent on paper):
For sandbox transactions no real £5 is taken or returned. A sandbox refund removes test-card access.
Privacy notice
Hoppr Club LTD is the controller of the personal information used to run Hoppr. For privacy requests, account deletion or complaints, email hopprteam@gmail.com.
What we collect and why
| Information | Purpose and lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Name, university email, university and current-student declaration; authentication details | Create and secure your account, check eligibility, send verification and password-reset messages. Necessary to take steps at your request and perform our membership contract. |
| Your uploaded face photo, chosen card design and saved offers | Provide your personal digital card and requested account features. Contract. Your photo helps staff visually check that a card belongs to you; Hoppr does not use automated facial recognition or create biometric identity templates. |
| Membership status, card code, start/expiry dates, payment and refund references | Activate and manage your membership and refunds (contract); maintain legally required accounting records (legal obligation); prevent payment abuse (legitimate interests). |
| Support messages and complaint information you supply | Respond and resolve issues (contract), manage disputes and protect our service (legitimate interests), and meet applicable legal duties. |
| IP address, device/browser information and service/security logs handled by our providers | Deliver and secure the website, investigate failures and prevent fraud. Our legitimate interests in operating a reliable and secure service. |
We receive account details from you, payment confirmations from Stripe, and technical information from your browser and hosting providers. You may browse without a membership. An eligible email, name, declaration and photo are required for an activated card; without them we cannot provide it. Saved offers and card customisation are optional. Your password is handled by our authentication provider; do not disclose it to staff.
Who receives information
- Supabase: authentication, account database and private photo storage. Our project is configured in Europe. Profile photos are not published in a public gallery.
- Stripe: hosted checkout, payment security and refunds. Checkout receives your account email and an account reference. We receive payment references and status, not your full card number or CVC. Stripe also processes information for its own payment, fraud-prevention and legal purposes; see Stripe’s privacy notice.
- OpenAI Sites and hosting infrastructure: website delivery and associated operational/security processing.
- Google: Gmail handles enquiries sent to our contact address. The current website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which involves a request carrying your IP address and browser information. A directions link opens Google Maps only when you choose it; maps are not embedded. See Google’s privacy notice.
- Participating businesses: staff see the card details you choose to show, including name, photo, university, card code and expiry. They do not receive your password or a downloadable membership database through this site.
- Authorised Hoppr personnel and professional advisers where needed, and authorities where disclosure is legally required.
We do not sell your personal information. This site does not currently implement society referral tracking, advertising pixels or marketing-email sign-up. If these are introduced, we will explain the new processing before it starts and obtain consent where required.
International processing
A European Supabase project does not mean every provider processes all information only in the UK or EEA. Our hosting, payment, email and font providers may process information internationally, including in the US. For information about the applicable locations and transfer safeguards for your information, contact us. We must use applicable UK adequacy arrangements or appropriate safeguards for restricted transfers; provider arrangements need to be assessed as part of operating this service.
How long information is kept
Account and card information, including your photo and saved offers, is kept while your account is maintained so you can access or renew your membership. Expiry alone does not delete the account. You can ask us to close your account and delete information that is no longer needed. We will review retention when handling closure requests and remove profile information that has no continuing purpose. We may retain limited payment, refund and accounting records for up to six years after the relevant financial year, or longer where a specific legal obligation or unresolved claim requires it. Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably needed to resolve the issue and any related dispute. Provider logs and backup copies have separate provider retention cycles; ask us for details. We do not promise immediate removal from all backups.
Your choices and rights
You can change your name, photo and preferences in Profile. Email us to request account closure or exercise applicable rights to access, correct or erase information, restrict its use, receive portable data, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights have legal exceptions. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. We may need proportionate evidence of identity. We normally respond within one month; we will explain any lawful extension.
You can complain directly to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), whether or not you first contact us. Hoppr does not use solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects; routine software checks email eligibility, payment status and expiry. Contact us if you believe a check is wrong.
We update this notice when our processing changes and will bring material new uses to your attention.
